About Us

Al-Bena'a Foundation for Sustainable Development is a non-profit developmental organization established in 2006, specializing in the development and empowerment of Yemeni women, enabling them to fulfill their roles and achieve a positive impact within their society. In the same year, the Foundation established a Training and Consultancy Center, stemming from its belief in the role of training in building and shaping women’s personalities, as well as in providing consultations across various fields that affect their lives. In 2011, the Foundation also established a Research and Development Unit, which later evolved into a Center for Thought and Studies. This center aims to prepare studies and research related to women and the family, with a focus on intellectual and cultural development as a core component in building the personality of Yemeni women. In light of the circumstances the country has been experiencing since 2015, the Foundation shifted its focus toward humanitarian and relief work addressing urgent community needs. Accordingly, a Relief and Projects Unit was established to provide emergency assistance and implement projects supporting education and reconstruction. The Foundation also established a Small Projects Unit to enable families to achieve self-sufficiency, and placed special emphasis on childhood programs, psychological support, and rehabilitation, with the aim of alleviating the suffering of women and preserving values, morals, and faith.

Al-Binaa Foundation for Sustainable Development Implements Water Well Rehabilitation Project in Taiz Governorate

Al-Binaa Foundation for Sustainable Development has implemented a water well rehabilitation project in Al-Shaab Village – Al-Muqaysi’, in Taiz Governorate. The project was funded by generous male and female donors from the Yemeni diaspora in the United States of America. It was officially inaugurated on February 27, with the aim of facilitating access to water for local residents and alleviating their daily suffering. This well represents the only source of water for the village. Previously, residents had to manually draw water by descending into the well, a practice that posed significant safety risks and made the process of obtaining water extremely difficult. The project included several rehabilitation works, such as lining the well, installing a secure cover to maintain water cleanliness, and constructing a protective structure around the well. It also involved installing a water storage tank and extending water pipelines, in addition to setting up a solar energy system to operate the well and pump water more easily. This initiative comes as part of the foundation’s ongoing efforts to implement water projects in the most vulnerable and underserved areas, contributing to the provision of safe water sources and improving the living conditions of local communities. Residents of the village expressed their sincere gratitude and appreciation to the donors for this humanitarian initiative, which has significantly eased their struggle to access water.

From a Benevolent Loan… to a Sustainable Source of Livelihood

He possessed nothing but a simple dream: to provide his family with a dignified livelihood. Through a benevolent loan, he launched his small project—a mobile stationery shop roaming the streets, carrying on its modest shelves notebooks, pens, and great hope. He woke up early every day, worked diligently, and was committed to repaying each installment on time, believing that honesty and hard work are the true paths to relief. As days passed, his steps grew stronger, just as his determination grew, until success came after only seven months. The mobile shop transformed into a permanent bookstore. He completed the repayment of all installments ahead of schedule, and his living conditions improved, by the grace of God. This story affirms that when an opportunity is granted to those who deserve it, it becomes a gateway to a better life and a renewed hope rebuilt from the ground up.

From a Mother’s Patience… to the Path of Knowledge

After the loss of the father, a mother and her daughter were left to face life alone in one of the districts of the governorate. The daughter, an orphan and an outstanding high school student, carried a dream far greater than her circumstances, firmly believing that education was her only path to a better future. The mother chose not to surrender to pain. Instead, she traveled with her daughter to the capital in search of an educational opportunity worthy of her potential. She worked as a teacher at a private school, earning a salary that barely covered basic living needs, while rent and educational expenses posed a heavy burden, eased only by limited support from relatives. The student’s case reached us through one of her relatives, who communicated on her behalf, as the student did not even have a means of contact. After reviewing the case, support was provided—becoming a lifeline that restored hope and revived the dream. The student enrolled at university, majoring in Pharmacy. Today, she is in her second academic year, excelling in her studies and proving that when dedication is met with support, it never goes to waste. This story embodies the truth that supporting education is not temporary aid, but an investment in human potential and a foundation for a more stable and dignified future.
